Microsoft Office 2013 is now here and it is hard to purchase Office 2010 off the shelf. What is the big difference and is it time to move to Office 2013? These are some of the question I would like to address.
First of all if you are using Exchange 2003, this Office 2013 does not support it. So if you currently use Exchange 2003, you might want to stay put until newer Exchange is installed. Also Office 2013 will not install on XP machines so you need to have Windows 7 or better.
What are the benefits of Office 2013, I think it goes along the lines of touch support & cloud readiness. SkyDrive will be the backend of Microsoft Office 2013 where various templates will be synced up to the cloud so that a uniform experience will occur on which ever device.
Overall there isn’t much more serious difference; one might say it was just a means to catch up to other competitors Office Suites such as Google Drive.
One note as an IT Consultant, it appears that since the preview for Office 2013 can only be downloaded as an image if you want to install it on Windows 7. Hence you have to take the steps to get it on a disc or unzip it to access it.
