When it comes to IT consulting we find that a good challenge can be satisfying in the end especially when it is resolved. A few items however are always a bit of nuisances no matter the resolution of them.
- Malware viruses: Internet browsers that get messed up are the worse. Mainly when in the grand scheme of things, it was such a pointless exercise. Clients are befuddled why such things exist and quite frankly even IT professionals are fed up with them. This may provide some extra work for IT consultants but any consultant would opt to do work that provide tangible benefits for the client instead of getting them to a point where they were before.
- Large mailboxes: There is nothing more daunting then dealing with a large mailbox. We’ve seem some that are over 15GB in size, that have been stored up in an old Outlook Express or Windows Mail program. Converting them into a newer format can be can of worms, but trying to import them to the cloud can be an epic process. There is nothing wrong with having lots of emails, especially in certain industries, however it is the fact that they have never been properly organized.
- Slow machines: Working on an old XP machine can become an exercise in diminishing returns. A slow machine can prolong a simple fix into real IT consulting dollars. We believe with the cost of new workstations being so reasonable it wise upgrade early and often.
